VALENCIA, SPAIN, September 4, 2008. Record crowds found that late attendance at conference sessions left them standing in the hallway as the 23rd EU Solar PV Conference got underway in Valencia.
Particularly with technical sessions, even the stairs served as seats for academics, industry professionals, investors and others waiting to hear what is new in solar PV.
Conference attendees are anxiously waiting to see if Spain will indeed implement a 300 MWp cap for 2009, a situation that would strand ~1500 MWp without a market to call home.
News on this important topic was anticipated by the end of the conference. On Tuesday, 2 September, EPIA held a workshop on the definition of grid parity – though, as expected, no specific definition was presented, a worthwhile discussion as to what happens after grid parity was begun.
Meanwhile, four halls and spillover exhibits offered an enormous, and almost unmanageable, exhibition that – thus far – has not been as crowded as the conference sessions…
